We are Fidelis Family Retreat

Empowering and Engaging Veteran Families through Educational Outdoor Recreation.

Vision Statement

At Fidelis Family Retreat, the veteran and support system are both the priority – not an afterthought. We serve not only our veterans, but their families and extended support systems. We aim to decrease the national veteran suicide rate by strengthening and educating veterans’ families and support systems; improving their mental, physical, and emotional health; facilitating forward movement; and ultimately fostering reintegration of veterans into their communities.

Mission Statement

Fidelis Family Retreat utilizes a holistic approach to create long-term positive outcomes for veterans and their communities. We empower those we serve through education and connection to resources, in order to support the transition from active duty to veteran life. We begin with a peaceful setting for relaxation, community events and activities, as well as land- and water- based recreational therapies. This approach not only allows veterans and their support systems to have fun again, it reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. The Retreat creates an environment which allows for veterans’ barriers to come down, helping them to reconnect with their family and friends, taking important steps towards mending relationships and strengthening bonds by creating opportunities for healthy interactions as well as creating new memories.

Board of Directors

Amanda Mohr

President / Founder

Fidelis Board President Amanda Mohr

Amanda's journey began with a profound realization: the vital role families play in the healing journey of our veterans. As the dedicated caregiver to her husband, disabled U.S. Marine Veteran Stephen Mohr, Amanda intimately understands the challenges faced by veteran families after service.

Through 19 years of marriage, 11 of which were spent navigating the complexities of active duty life, experiencing the highs and lows of deployments, transitions, and everything in between, Amanda witnessed firsthand the transition from abundant support during service to a stark void upon discharge. Determined to bridge this gap, she founded Fidelis Family Retreat, a beacon of hope and support for veteran families.

Through Fidelis, Amanda's vision is clear: to prioritize the veteran family as a unit, offering holistic programs that nurture mental, physical, and emotional well-being. With Amanda's leadership, Fidelis Family Retreat aims to decrease the national veteran suicide rate by strengthening families, educating communities, and fostering reintegration. By prioritizing the well-being of veteran families, Fidelis is paving the way for brighter futures and stronger communities.
